Final Project Goals:

ENGAGE in COLLABORATIVE DISCUSSION about PROJECT IDEAS.
RESEARCH and CREATE a FINAL PROJECT which synthesizes COURSE IDEAS and demonstrates COURSE SKILLS.
POST FINAL PROJECT to GALLERY PAGE
COMMENT on CLASSMATES' PROJECTS.

Directions:

Here are your tasks for this project:
  • GRADED DISCUSSION: LIST Three Project Ideas and POST them to the DISCUSSION BOARD 
  • COMMENT on at least TWO of YOUR CLASSMATES' IDEAS 
  • CHOOSE and DEFEND a TOPIC for your FINAL PROJECT 
  • GRADED DISCUSSION: READ about your classmates' choices and COMMENT on them 
  • RESEARCH and CREATE YOUR FINAL PROJECT due by 
  • GRADED DISCUSSION: COMMENT on YOUR CLASSMATES PROJECTS by
Your final project should take the form of a Google Presentation:

Final Project Table of Contents
  • Apply One of the Philosophical Theories we have studied to your understanding of the zeitgeist of your period: Freud's Theory of the Unconcious, Nietzsche's Superman, Marx's Dialectical Materialism or Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection
  • Find and analyze literary artifacts (poems, stories, plays, excerpts from novels) from the era which reflect the zeitgeist of the era.
  • Find and analyze historical artifacts (primary resources) from the era which reflect the zeitgeist of the era.
  • Find and analyze art (paintings, sculpture, architecture, music) which reflects the zeitgeist of the era.
  • Find video which you can use to introduce your topic.
  • Do an Interview with an Expert: who can provide insight into your issue.
Technical Expectations:
  • Video Yourself instead of trying to fit a large amount of text on to one slide. Embed your video on to the slide. (Consider NARRATING the entire presentation.)
  • Make your presentation effective by applying Aristotle's Rhetorical Modes: Ethos, Pathos and Logos.
  • Consider your understanding of human nature. Are we more like Locke's rational creatures capable of programming progress (Blank Slate) or are we more like Freud's modern human, driven by instincts which subvert reason itself (Freud's Theory of the Unconscious)?
  • Create a Works Cited Page.
