SUMMER READING 2006 REQUIRED SUMMER READING BOOKS MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE OPENING DAY OF SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER. The selection list accompanying the required books list includes titles in a wide array of genres and reading levels. It is our fervent hope that students will be able to identify a book or books from this list that they find enjoyable and enlightening. Required books are available for purchase at the Gilman Country Store. Books from the selection list are available in local libraries and most bookstores; many are now available in paperback. Katrina Kittle Three choices from selection list, one of which is directly related to a specific course Ms. Katrina Kittle, author of Traveling Light, will be the 2006 Mountcastle Lecturer at Any student enrolled in an AP-level class at Gilman may have to read additional books over the summer. These required books should take the place of his choice books. For example, a junior enrolled in AP Spanish should read The Things They Carried, the 11th and 12th grade book, the required book for his Spanish class, and one choice from the selection list.
